ABOUT PMC COMMERCIALS

Built from an understanding of the transport industry.

Our approach to HGV workshop support has been shaped by practical experience in haulage, a strong technical focus and an understanding of what vehicle downtime means to a transport business.

My interest in trucks and the transport industry started long before PMC Commercials was established. Growing up around our family’s haulage business meant trucks, transport and the day-to-day realities of running a fleet were part of family life from an early age. I became increasingly involved in maintaining and repairing the fleet, gaining practical experience and developing a strong interest in the mechanical and technical side of trucks.

The experience, knowledge and support that came from growing up in that family environment had a major influence on the direction I took and ultimately led to the establishment of PMC Commercials.

PMC Commercials was established in 2015 to provide specialist mobile diagnostic and wheel alignment services to main dealer workshops, independent workshops and transport operators.

The business developed around technical capability, effective fault finding and an understanding of the pressures faced by the transport industry when vehicles are off the road.

My brother Jack subsequently joined the business and has played a major role in developing PMC into what it is today, with significant involvement in the day-to-day running of the business, logistics and customer relationships.

As customer requirements developed, we moved into our workshop facility in Ballinhassig in 2019 and ceased providing mobile services. This allowed us to expand beyond diagnostics and wheel alignment into comprehensive mechanical, electrical, diagnostic and maintenance services for HGV trucks and trailers.

Today, our aim is to provide complete fleet support from one workshop — combining routine servicing and maintenance with mechanical repairs, advanced diagnostics, electrical work and specialist technical services. We support owner-drivers and larger fleets throughout Cork and the surrounding area, while also providing technical services to other HGV workshops.

Our workshop has a growing focus on Volvo and Renault trucks, backed by genuine diagnostic software, workshop and service data, dedicated tooling and parts support.

KEEPING YOUR BUSINESS MOVING

In and out of the workshop.

Vehicle downtime can have a significant impact on a transport business. As the cost of purchasing and operating trucks continued to increase, we saw a growing need among our customers for another way to maintain capacity when their own vehicles were off the road.

PMC Truck Rentals was established to work alongside our workshop services, helping customers continue operating while their own trucks are with us for repair or maintenance. It provides greater flexibility for the customer while giving our workshop the time required to carry out work properly.

PMC continues to develop with the support of my wife and children, whose support plays an important part in allowing the business to grow. My hope is that PMC remains a family business we can continue to build, and that one day the next generation may choose to have an involvement of their own.
